Been checking out live music

After another summer where I didn't check out a single City sponsored live show (Summerstage, Celebrate Brooklyn, River To River, etc.) I was feeling really lame, so I've been hitting the clubs at least once a week for the past bunch of weeks:

Sept. 5- Coney Island Rockabilly Festival
11 - Oran Etkin (bass clarinet) at Barbes in Park Slope
13 - jam with the band Iron Dog at their home in Bed-Stuy
19 - Dixons play at Sweet Revenge on Franklin Ave.
26 - Ghost of Tony Gold in Long Island City
Oct. 1 - Drexel & the Bootleggers plays at Bowery Electric
9 - Thelonius Monk 92nd birthday celebration at Winter Garden - catch Junior Nance and Kenny Barron
16 - go see It Might Get Loud at Cinema Village in lieu of seeing a band
21. John McNeill at Puppets Jazz in Park Slope
